With almost 1000 entrants,
Powercruise 14 was the biggest, smokiest ever.
The Carline Mufflers Powercruise returned to Queensland Raceway for the biggest event in its five year history. Some 958 enthusiasts turned up to see the greatest mix of the older muscle and the newer imports at Powercruise. With 18 hours of cruising the track over three days, entrants began to run out of tyres, fuel and motors by the time Sunday afternoon’s session came around.
Punters were treated to performances by Victor and Ben Bray, Sydney’s Daihatsu Mira JetCar, monster trucks, Matt Mingay drift and stunt demos as well as the Cunning Stunts Bike Team throughout the four day festival.
Passenger armbands were changed to a gold coin donation. With the generosity of the punters we donated $2892.20 to the Starlight Foundation. Yet, the Starlight Foundation also had a win out of the dyno cell when Geoff Taunton bet Gup $1000 that his ute would make 1000hp on the rollers. With only making 959.3hp, he had to hand over the cash. Geoff confident that it would make it, he decided to go for double or nothing. With another run the ute failed to get over the mark. This $2000 was also donated to the foundation.
